If you have a problem with nerve root compression a good abdominal compression device can help relieve the pressure and pain. While this relies more upon brute strength to use, the Velcro holds, it has not rigid plastic to pinch your belly, and works well for a really affordable price. The suspenders help to insure that it remains at the level you desire. It's also thin enough to fit inside my jeans.

excelent product
I use it for work. The belt is 8" wide, the outer stretch bands are 4" wide, the shoulder straps are long enough to allow me to wear belt low enough to help stabilize low back and overlap onto upper pelvis. I have had a herniated L5/S1 disc 20 years and used belts identical to this for most of that time, every single day that I go to work. I rely on it to help stabilize my back, but more importantly, I am always aware that it is on and it reminds to not do anything stupid lifting wise. I also have an inversion table in my garage that use daily for a few minutes. I am an MRI tech and have used this combination for 2 decades to keep me relatively pain free and keep my back from getting worse. Great product.

definitely works for me.
Tried this on as soon as it arrived and it fit perfect. I am a bigger gentlemen and could never find a support belt in my size. I suffer from several back ailments and can only do certain tasks for short periods of time. This belt allows me to work longer and not feel all of the after effects; that normally leave me sidelined for the next couple of days. I should of ordered a xxl but ordered the xl. It fits towards the end of the belt limit but now that I can perform more tasks hopefully that will change.
